Very disappointed with emax tried 3 times 2 bnf and one rtf. The first bnf flew 6 times before one of the rear motors stop working and it got very hot. Second bnf same happened this time in flight just fell and crash no fpv and smoked like crazy. The rtf version I thought that it would be better, same happened after a week this one started with the front left motor not working. I really like how this drone fly when its working. I did give it 3 chances, but this time I just got a refund. I do not want to take another chance with it. Very sad this happened, like I said I really loved how it fly. I will not buy this kind of stuff any more. I build a couple of drones with parts from amazon and its been great, but this bnf or rtf stuff I haven’t been lucky with it.

First your gonna need extra batteries because this is a blasty, blast! I got 300 meters out of the goggles, on my big gps drone, and good picture. There is a fan in goggles and glasses fit inside perfect if your old like me. The perfect trainer for all levels or types of pilots. On my 8th flight in I’m in mode 2, so the learning curve isn’t bad. Super stable powerful motors. Crashed into ground several times no problem. (Grass) A must have in your drone Arsenal!

Right out of the box the FC is glitchy and frequently the serial port fails when switching tabs in BetaFlight Configurator even after reflashing with recommended settings from the manual. I saw it as a small inconvenience but I’m starting to think I got a defective board because now one or two random motors won’t initialize when armed and sometimes one will even stall on and off mid-flight throwing the craft into an oscillation that brings it to the ground every time. Either the FC or the 4in1 ESC built-in is malfunctioning, I’ve confirmed it isn’t motor/prop/battery/failsafe related. Additionally, I’ve tried raising and lowering throttle minimum but it seems the problem is unaffected. Hopefully the company will reach out and send me a replacement board with camera, power pigtail, and battery tray attached so I don’t have to solder anything. If not, I guess I’ll have to get a soldering iron and a new board. Really sucks that it stopped working after only 10 days of me getting into FPV.

TL;DR- Get it. The Durability is an understatement in the reviews. Super fun.Firstly, the Durability. I’ve had the props go flying off the motors I hit a wall so hard. Popped em back on, gave it a once over, started flying. (3/22/20, crashed this so hard. Accidentally hit channel change button when adjusting goggles, did a double loop Dee loo right onto concrete… Worked fine)I’ve been lurking the FPV hobby for about six years. Decided to take the plunge.Start in a quad simulation! All the pros offering free knowledge out there on the internet are correct on that.Waiting for my FrSky Taranis QX7 to use with this Tinyhawk and my quad sim.Get batteries. I have 5. I would get like 6 more. You do t want to kill the batter completely. You get about 4mins 30sec from each 450mah battery.Flight helper toggle switch on the right…”Easy Mode” is smooth and forgiving.”Medium Mode” is savage and sensitive”Acro Mode” Haven’t even gone near it. Can’t even imagine this being more nimble past

EDIT: 2019 07 21 – So I thought I would update this review. The TinyHawk has been a blast. I have attached a picture of some additions that I have made to the original kit. (Additional batteries, upgraded antennas) I am continually amazed at the stability of the craft, the ability to bump into things and keep on flying. The DVR footage of my flying was through a pair of SkyZone 02X. I appreciate that the Tinyhawk RTF acts like a bridge from beginner to pilot. It gave me everything I needed at a reasonable price, I can change out components (like the transmitter and goggles). So, yea, I have been pleased with the Tinyhawks design and Emaxs intent for an entry kit with growth capability.I bought this here. They were quick and efficient with the delivery. They gave an accurate estimated delivery time. The delivery company alerted me when bad weather had impacted my shipment and informed me there would be a two day delay. They have contacted me in regards to my purchase and asked if I am pleased with it. I am.For drones, I have been more of a consumer grade flier with features like GPS guidance and Return to Home and following capabilities. I got into it because I love the photos that I can capture with these types of drones. However I have loved the video footage that can be made with the use of Freestyle/ Racing drones and I have been curious about getting into flying these craft. The EMAX Tinyhawk RTF seemed like a good jumping off point to get into FPV drones. It wasn’t a good jumping off point, it was great. This thing is incredibly stable in flight and is very responsive with regards to both the controller and googles. Give yourself plenty of room for flight because this thing moves. I have been impressed with its build quality as I have had a few mishaps along the way and have been impressed that the craft was able to be picked back up and ready to fly. This was after falling close to 40 foot on to the concrete and the second crash I caught a wall and sent it spinning into oblivion. It is still flying and look forward to each oppozrtunity that I get to fly. I will say spend the money for about 5 – 6 extra batteries, if you can afford it. It is nice to be able to swap out and keep flying. Each time I fly now I keep contemplating moving up to the next platform size and ability.

Congrats on inspiring me to do my first review on any site.I know absolutely nothing about drones. This thing is awesome. Only drawback, they provide just enough instructions to get you up in the air. Other than that, you gotta do some deep dive googling to figure out what the buttons and switches do, and what the beep and boops mean. There’s some info in the instructions, but for a guy who got this as an ‘I want to race drones’ starter kit, its a bit over my head. That being said, I really like the fact that I could get this up in the air super quick AND have the ability to start seeing the depth you can get to if you want to modify and tweak it.

Fpv… It looked so fun, and after all the YouTube videos I watched, it almost started to look… easy.Problem was I knew it wasn’t. I didn’t wan to spend a small fortune on something that I knew I would either destroy, lose, or plain ol’ suck at flying it.Enter Tinnyhawk! Fly indoors or out. Need a lil more pep? Betaflight can speed things up. And don’t worry about crashing too much as this thing is almost indestructible. I highly recommend you try one for yourself.

I had a lot of these small, mid level, whoops and drones, with acro, or near acro, but as an overall package nothing comes close to EMAX Tinyhawk! Hands down for beginners or experts, this is the best! I fly full blown 220mm racing drones, but a lot of times I prefer something fun, responsive and reliable in a smaller package, look no further, buy this‼

This is my third one and it will not trim can get no help from emax but Dronebuzz has been letting me return them the other two kits had motor failure I bought them to fly not sit in the case so I will be sending this one back to if I can’t get any help

I’m sure the quad is fine and the controller and goggles are perfect for smaller/younger people, but I could not use them. The goggles did not fit my head, not even close, and I couldn’t focus on the picture. I don’t wear glasses normally, but apparently, I need to!The controller is also quite small and perhaps not suited to a fully grown adult. If you’re buying this for a smaller or younger person, I’m sure it’s going to be great. If you’re not smaller or younger, you might want to get a full-sized controller and try a different set of goggles. The quad itself, just look online for the reviews and you’ll see it’s generally pretty good.

This drone is a freakin beast!. The range is really good for the price. I have taken it out 200 ft around large trucks and walls and the signal is still good. It has crashed literally hundreds of times, some really hard, and it keeps going no problem. I even landed fully submerged is my dogs water dish and it died. I let it dry for 30 mins and it was back in the air with no damage! The fpv is real time with very little lag. It performs flips , takes a lot of practice, and is super fast. If you are getting into fpv and want a tiny woop this is the one to get hands down! It is a blast to fly and you won’t regret buying it!

Save your money! STAY AWAY. I purchased this RTF kit for my two boys ages 13 and 10. Since they flew them into walls while learning I assumed it was the flying that caused them to break at first, so I just bought them new ones when the first two broke soon after use. FIVE (5) Tiny Hawks later after replacing them as Christmas gifts I had had enough. My son gently flew it into a wall (expected, it is an indoor quad) and the reception from the transmitter was now two feet. I sent to Emax to cover this failure under the warranty. WOW what an experience this has been. They refuse to repair/replace it without charging me. They also will not tell me how much it will cost or what is even wrong with it. Just telling me to approve a blank check. What is really depressing is how the support folks have been speaking to a ten (10) year old in their emails. Horrible treatment and manner of speaking to a ten year old via email. This was the big part of his Christmas gift and it lasted a whole week and then followed up with abusive correspondence and stall tactics by Emax (its eight weeks later and I still don’t even have my broken one back). Save your money or go with a competitor because this product is terrible and the company is even worse. Please remember this is sold as an indoor quad for beginners. But is as fragile as an egg shell. Product is junk so is the company. I will update this review if they ever even return my broken device. For now, complete waste of money.

This was my first “non toy” drone and my first FPV. I was super excited to get going on it and fired it up after an initial charge. It was very difficult to fly but I flew it indoors and crashed it a few times till the battery drained, then charged and flew again. I probably went through about 4 charges my first day.I was having fun and really impressed at how the pro’s are able to control these things so well. Day 2 rolls around and I plug everything in and want to fly. I could not get a blue light to light up on the drone. I tried and tried, but to no avail. I researched online and then installed Betaflight controller to configure it. I played with it for 2 days in the evening while watching “The Expanse” (great show btw). The second day I came across some one saying they had the same symptoms and to change the controller to a different version. I did this and low and behold it worked! Why I had to switch is beyond me. Well I purchased 8 more batteries so I can have more flight time and took it outside. Once at a park, I attempted to FPV and the thing would cut out if it was more than about 30 ft away, fully unfunctioning. So again, I was unable to really truly fly it and enjoy. Well, the next day I met up with a friend who has a different brand and flew his…it was 100% better than mine. He was making fun of my poor flight skills. I handed him my controller and he was really impressed at how bad it was.
Mr. Reviews in WI –
I’m an experienced flyer of small drones. Prefer smaller ones to bigger. Very disappointed in this experience.1. Ordered. Got it yesterday around 1 PM. Opened it up and read the manual. A bunch of things were already completed. Did I get a used one sold as new?2. Plug in the battery for the goggles. Green means charged on everything except this. Red means charged fully. Battery for drone…green while charging, goes off when charged. Ummm why not red? Controller….turned red when plugged into charger….never changed color. Ever. Hours later.3. When battery is in drone, controller is on, with every single drone previously left stick up, down…drone ready. Not this thing. Drone ready but then you have to Arm it, left switch 2 clicks up. Props spin in idle. Ummm ok. 4 minutes or less flight time and the rotors are spinning burning up flight time….in idle.4. Tried to hover. Drone has such a left yaw I can’t hold steady. Tried trim right…beep… again beep… again….all the way to max. Pulling left the whole time while I’m fighting to hold hover….sooo I land.5. Upon landing, throttle down to the bottom. Nope. Drone revving up….throttle still down…drone, which wants to go left constantly is now a hovercraft moving across a table. Learning quickly after I landed I must disarm.6….I am going through this in a living room which has windows closed, no fans, 12 foot ceiling, and is around 20×30 feet.

This is my first drone of any kind and I really like it. It works out of the box as advertised. I was concerned that it was going to be gimmicky (i.e. break quickly), but it is not, instead it is the real deal.Drone: Super durable, I have been learning inside my house and have crashed it a lot and there is not a scratch on it. I was concerned that I would buy it and that it would break after a few crashes leaving me with useless goggles and controller. The fact that I can crash it over and over and actually learn on it is huge for me.Controller: Is great for a me, a first time buyer, I quickly got the hang of arming it and switching to hold when I crashed. I started with the switch on the right in easy mode and soon found I had better control switching to medium difficulty (middle setting on the right switch).Goggles: They are fine, again I am a first time buyer so I have nothing to compare them to. The three straps (two sides and top) are adjustable. They are pretty comfortable.Battery: Fine, I get just over 4 minutes on a charge. I bought 2 additional batteries and I am glad I did since one is not enough.Charger: Works fine, no issues. One side is configure to charge at 0.2amps and one side is configured to charge at 0.6amps. There are little switches to change the charging rate. I don’t know why you would charge at 0.2amps, i always charge at 0.6amps.Overall: The image is not super crisp, but good enough. If I fly into another room then the I start to loose the image, but not too badly. I tried flying outside, but because there is nothing to confine me I start to loose the drone (I let it get too far away), so I switched to learning indoors. Flying indoors is forcing me to learn to control it (between the floor and ceiling and away from the walls and obstacles). Since I keep crashing and it is fine, this is preferable to me. I found that flying outdoors during the daytime is difficult, the camera struggles to display the range of light so the ground goes very dark and I can’t figure out where I am. The beeping of the drone is super helpful if you are not sure where you crashed, I have used the beeping to find it several times. It would be nice if the camera and antenna could be upgraded to provide a better picture and less interference, but that would probably impact the battery life.I think it is great, I did a lot of research and really wanted a micro-drone that worked out of the box and this does that. I am glad I do not have to do any configuration, I can just plug in the battery and fly. Of course it is not perfect, but it is good enough and for something so small to just work out of the box is awesome.

I was really hoping that this kit would meet me expectations- and it did!!!! I did a lot of homework to search for the best kit that experienced pilot recommended and this is indeed the one to buy as a beginner. I love that all the batteries are REMOVABLE, and replaceable. I have flown it ever day, and will soon be buying more batteries. I recommend watching several videos on Youtube to understand exactly what you are getting. I have zero complaints and look forward to countless hours of happy flying. Try it!
Mac Junky –
The VTX breaks up after only 30 feet away from the goggles. and is that is if you are outdoors with nothing in your way if I was in my house the footage would break up when the drone was only one room over. the drone itself flies very smoothly and has decent flight times when flying LOS. But the fact that it does so terribly at fpv makes it not worth the price. I’m definitely returning it
Eric Larson –
So far, no complaints. I have been very happy with the performance of the drone. It is a big step up from the ones you buy at local stores that a consumer grade, vs this one being more professional feeling. Very fast.Only complaint is that on of the fly settings is a little hard to learn. Most notably, the drone is programmed to flip if you push the right stick too far, so that can make it hard for a beginner to learn when trying to correct.Battery life is not that long, maybe 8 minutes, but they are cheap and you can charge any at a time.
Ariel Dolinar –
The kit is super fun, the drone is great to learn FPV. I even like the controller (the sticks center point is really smooth which I like better than my JumperT16 that has a really strong “clicky” kind of center point or whatever). My first kit the goggles quit working after the 3rd flight with normal use. I just had them on my head and the screen quit working. There was something wrong with the connection between the battery power supply and the screen maybe. Got a replacement kit which lasted a little longer, something like 20 flights and then one day after flying through two batteries the screen just quit on me. Maybe it was the connection between the antennas and something inside the goggle this time. Either way, don’t count on the goggles lasting you for any length of time if you decide to buy other quads and your own radio. (I never dropped the goggles or did anything that I thought would cause the issue).
